Chilli Sonic Variable Speed Pump

When the pump starts, it runs at full 1.25hp flowing 400-500 L/min to penetrate and mix the entire pool volume thoroughly. After around 5 minutes, it steps down to its efficient operating speed. From there it runs quietly in the background, turning the water over the correct number of times to filter effectively and generate the right chlorine levels. 

That two-stage approach matters. The high-speed burst ensures proper water mixing and chemical distribution. The lower operating speed keeps running costs and noise to a minimum for the rest of the cycle. A single-speed pump runs flat out all day to achieve what the Sonic does more efficiently at a fraction of the energy.

Why does it start at high speed and then slow down?

The high-speed start ensures chemicals and temperature are evenly distributed throughout the pool before the system drops to efficient low-speed filtration. Running flat out all day achieves the same result at significantly higher energy cost.

How much quieter is a variable speed pump compared to a standard pump?

At low operating speed, the difference is significant. Single-speed pumps run at full capacity all day - audible and energy-intensive. The Chilli Sonic at low filtration speed is much quieter and for most of its running time you'll barely notice it.

How much cheaper is it to run than a single-speed pump?
